Google Your Business

The Importance of Checking Your Listing on Google

Have you Googled or Binged or Yahoo'd your business?  It is a MUST!
  1. It's free to update the profile or create one if there is none.
  2. Everyone else is!
  3. If it contains incorrect information, you could be loosing customers.
  4. If it contains negative reviews or unanswered inquiries, you could be losing customers.
  5. It's a free avenue to market your business.
  6. Did I mention it's free?!
When you search for your business, a profile box should come up with details about your business including: location, phone number, hours, reviews (Google and Facebook), a link to your website or Social Media page (whatever you have put in), and any Google Posts you've written (I'll mention more about that in a bit).  By the way, the desktop version is pictured below, but the box on the right should pop up on the phone as well, with the links on the left below it.
The number one reason to get your profile claimed and correct is to keep your customers up to date.  Businesses change locations, change open times depending on the season, or have to adjust times/days because of a crazy situation (family emergency, remodeling, or perhaps a world-wide pandemic!)  It's very easy to just login to your profile and update it with new hours.

Posting in Google
After you claim or create a Google My Business Profile, you open the door for a list of tasks, one of which is Posts.

Topics Google suggests for posts include: offers, product updates, what's new and events.  Did I mention it's free?!  Posting on Google is a little bit like posting on other social media, except it is only visible for 7 days and it can pop up where other social media doesn't.

Here is quote from Google Support on how posts work (https://bit.ly/399DZ9E):

How it works

Published posts appear in your knowledge panel when users search for you or your entities. Up to 8 of your most recent posts appear when users search for you on Google. The posts appear from newest to oldest. Your post most likely appears when a user searches for you or the entity you represent. However, We cannot guarantee that your posts show up for any particular search query.

Your posts may show in the Google feed to users who have shown interest in you.

  • Views from the feed that your posts receive are included in your metrics
  • Event and poll posts do not show in the feed
  • Article and story posts only appear if they have an image or video

Other Features...

In addition to posting, the Google My Business admin section lets you see insights to your profile including the most popular queries for your business by unique users, how customers searched for your business, if they found you on Google Search or Google Maps (if you have a store front), and what actions they took (call, visit website, or request directions).

Access and respond to your reviews, let customers message you directly from your profile listing, and  add photos (that's important too!) to take your profile to the next level.

Whether you are a product or service based business, Google has a feature for you.  They even give you a VERY simple website for free!    You can add multiple users to the profile account so you don't have to do all the work...You can even add us!

We know how busy business owners are and we are here to carry the Google My Business load for you.  For a low price, you can have us do everything listed here FOR YOU.  If you have any question about Google My Business, or would like us to take it over for you, contact us right away.  You don't want customers to pass you by!

For most businesses, your computers house some of the most vital information in your business. The internet acts as a gateway to that information IF cyber security is not a priority. We have seen this happen more and more often in the last couple of years - unprotected computer systems and open networks ready for hackers to swoop in and take what they want. It's just not something at the top of many business owners minds when setting up a business, let alone in day to day interactions. Since the release of our last post about Tips to Avoid Email Scams, there have been new ways hackers/scammers are trying to infiltrate your business and personal info.
